Thortech International working alongside Chepstow Plant Ltd were chosen to complete the project at the hospital. The Noah’s Ark Appeal is a large organisation who exclusively fundraise for the University Hospital of Wales, since its launch in 2000 it has raised millions of pounds through public support for the hospital. They have built the very first Children’s Hospital for Wales which treats children needing medical and cancer care.
Eileen Wood (Designer of the Noah’s Ark Appeal Garden) – “I was responsible for the design and implementation of The Noah’s Ark and Howell’s School garden for the Children’s Hospital for Wales. The project brief was to provide a sensory gateway garden for the health and well being of the children and families of the hospital. The project was completed on time and was officially opened to the public by The Minister for Health, Wales and Diane Engelhardt Noah’s Ark Appeal Patron on 31st May 2012”
The Children’s Hospital needed 100m2 of surfacing to be completed using various shapes and patterns as completed by children of Howells School in Llandaff, Wales.
PROCESS
We used our Thorset™ system to complete the resin bound surface. Our resin system combined with 1>5mm aggregate. We then scatter fine glass beads over the surface as it cures to give it an anti-slip texture.
