Port of Rodby
Thortech International were appointed by Scandlines to carry out the works to apply anti-skid surfacing at the Port of Rodby. We initially visited the site in Denmark to carry out a full site survey and decided that the project would be carried out over two phases. We were instructed to remove the existing surface, supply and lay anti-skid surfacing to Berth 2.
The Port of Rodby predominantly operates ferry crossings between Rodby, Denmark and Germany, allowing ferries to travel to and from Rodby every 30 minutes. Being in constant service, the linkspans require a robust anti-skid surface that can withstand large amounts of traffic.
We started the works with the aim to lay a minimum of 250sqm a day. First, we removed the existing surface and prepared the steel substrate with enclosed shot blasting, ensuring the surface met the Swedish Standard SA2.5. Once the steel substrate was prepared, we applied primer first followed by the new anti-skid surfacing.
Thortech International completed all the works within the budget and timescale set by Scandlines, enabling them to reopen Berth 2 as planned.
