Seatruck Panorama – 8 Vessels Fleet Maintenance

Synopsis

Thortech International were approached back in late 2020 by Seatruck Ferries Ltd to complete repair works on the weather deck and two stern decks on the Clipper Pennant.  Our heavy-duty resin system THORGRIP STS^TM was carefully chosen by Seatruck Ferries due to its excellent anti-skid properties and long service life.  Work went ahead and was completed to such a high standard that Seatruck Ferries requested from Thortech International a survey of the fleet with a view to servicing multiple vessels.  Due to our close links with the port, surveying was completed by mid-2021 and several vessels identified for required maintenance using the THORGRIP STS^TM system.

Process

Throughout the remainder of 2021 we repaired nearly 3000m² to various vessels within the fleet.  Some vessels required blasting of the current surface to SA2.5 standard first, which of course we were happy to do using our blasting equipment. Over several visits we repeatedly demonstrated dogged determination to complete each vessel within the given time and parameters.  We’re extremely proud that we were able to keep up with the schedule and avoid any delays for our client.

Outcome

The client was delighted with the finished result, work was successfully carried out within time constraints and on budget.  The THORGRIP STS^TM system is designed with longevity in mind.  When applied correctly with THORTECH’s range of strong aggregates, the THORGRIP STS^TM surface will last for years, thus preventing the requirement for regular maintenance.  Accompanied with rust prevention and fire-retardant properties, the THORGRIP STS^TM anti-skid system provides a long-life surface coating which meets the challenges of heavy duty cargo operations.
